CBC Coder Dojo students mentor Singleton Primary students

Coder Dojo is an after school club that helps students develop skills associated with computer coding and programming. Comet Bay College runs the program after school on Mondays 3pm – 4pm.

Singleton Primary runs a junior program on Thursday afternoons from 3pm – 4pm for their students interested in coding and general computer skills development.

Yvonne Harrison (Deputy Principal at Singleton Primary School) and Comet Bay College Teacher, Jason D’Argent have teamed up and encouraged Comet Bay’s Dojo members to attend Singleton Primary School each Thursday afternoon to mentor and support their primary school counterparts

What a wonderful example of community partnering. Well done to all involved.

Year 8 Student, Liam May (who volunteers every week) said  “I enjoy mentoring young children to develop their understanding of technology and the interactions that comes with it. I chose to join in with this after school activity due to it being something I love to do: Computer Coding, and I am impressed with what these young students have learnt.“
