Young Writers Day

News

Once a term, selected students from Year 9 are given the opportunity to go on an excursion to the Literature Centre in Fremantle.  Esteemed authors from around Australia host a workshop in which they share their experience, skills and techniques, to guide young aspiring authors with the same ambitions.  Each visit, the authors focus on a certain element of writing.

On the last visit, author Vikki Wakefield, conducted a workshop on author and character voice and how to differ between the two. The students also get the opportunity to share their writing with their peers. Some students reported that they liked that it could help them improve their public speaking,  they appreciated the feedback they received on their writing and that it was a great opportunity to meet other people with the same interests.

Overall students thoroughly enjoy this educational activity and conclude that it is “a fun and productive learning experience”.
