US Diplomat visits Comet Bay College

News

Year 11 ATAR students were visited recently by Political-Economic Officer Joe James from the US Consulate General Perth. Joe visited students in our Politics & Law and History classes, discussing the system of American Government and answering questions on capitalism and the ‘American Dream’. Mr James was impressed with our students keen interest, particularly in the upcoming Presidential Election and political party campaigns. “Each of our respective systems is complex and can be hard to understand, I am impressed with how much knowledge of the US system these students already have”.

With the United States being a close partner with Australia, Joe believe’s it is important for students to learn about US politics and broaden their global perspective.  While Comet Bay College has had the privilege of having US Consul Generate Cynthia Griffin attend our school ANZAC ceremony in the past, this is the first time a diplomat has attended the college as a part of an incursion.
