During Term 3 this year, students from Comet Bay College participated in the Bendigo Community Bank Competition through the learning area of Humanities & Social Sciences.

The response to the topic, “How to improve your Community”, involved about 150 students from our Year 10 GATE and Extension classes. Once again the judges were impressed, with all finalists being highly commended for both the quality of their presentations and originality of ideas proposed.Karl Jones Bendigo Bank facebook

Congratulations goes to Karl Jones who won the school final and $500 for a presentation that promoted Rockingham and its many tourist attractions via a Car Rally. On Wednesday 28th October Karl attended the Rockingham campus of Murdoch University to make his presentation to the judging panel at the regional final of the competition. Other schools participating included Kolbe Catholic College, Safety Bay Senior High School and Rockingham High School.

We now have to wait till the 18th November when the judges will announce the overall winner of an additional $1,000 at the Gala Evening to be held at the Gary Holland Community Centre. We wish Karl the very best of luck!
