ATAR Geography Excursion to Millbrook Winery

News

As a component of the Year 11 ATAR Geography course, students were provided with the opportunity to attend an excursion to Millbrook Winery, situated in the picturesque Jarrahdale hills on 300 acre property.

This unique ‘behind the scenes’ experience provided students with the chance to explore aspects of production and consumption that the grape – bottle – store process of viticulture entails.

Millbrook’s Senior winemaker, Damien Hutton, enthusiastically guided students throught the vineyards, barrel hall, winery tanks and restaurant, vocalising his passion for vigour for this family owned business.

In the past decade Millbrook wine has won over 100 awards at local and international wine shows, increasing Australia and the South West’s profile as a competitive global wine producer. Despite the wet conditions and unfortunate lack of raincoats, students appreciated this excursion as a fun and informative day out and would like to reiterate their gratefulness to Damien and Millbrook Winery for providing them with this rare opportunity.
