Energy Apprenticeships Group provides opportunities to our students

Comet Bay College students looking for careers in the oil and gas industry were treated to some high profile resume training last week.

The Energy Apprenticeships Group (EAG) is offering fourteen traineeships to school leavers in the Process Plant Operations field at the end of this year.   Comet Bay College has been selected as one of five schools to work with EAG in identifying students for the traineeships.

As part of the recruiting process, Shell Australia facilities and human resources managers visited the college to provide training in writing effective resumes and performing well in interviews.

Some of the topics covered included:-

  • What recruiters look for
  • Key resume inclusions
  • Being professional and discreet
  • How to prepare for your interview
  • What to wear to your interview

Feedback from the EAG recruiters has been extremely positive.  The industry representatives have been impressed with the professional and respectful conduct of the Comet Bay College students.  All of the students have expressed a strong interest in becoming process plant operators which is very refreshing.

Vacancies will be advertised in August and we wish our students the very best of luck in securing their future careers as Process Plant Operators.
