Exhibition at Rockingham Library

The Portrait of a Veteran project continued its travelling exhibition and is now displayed at Rockingham Central Library, for the month of September. So if you haven’t had a chance to see the portraits yet, you should get down there soon as this will be the last exhibition in the local area.

Some of the artists and veterans came to view the exhibition’s new home and brought their family members to see their portrait on display.

It has been wonderful getting to know all the participants this year and Comet Bay College is thankful for their continued support. We look forward to seeing them again soon at the next exhibition.

Student and local volunteer artists painted (or drew) portraits of veterans who served in various conflicts, humanitarian and peacekeeping operations both overseas and in Australia. All three services were represented; Navy, Army and Air Force and we had young, old, male and female veterans participating in the project.

There was an informal ‘opening’ of the exhibition last Friday, graciously provided by the City of Rockingham.

Thanks go to Zoe Shearman and fellow Library staff members who facilitated the installation of the exhibition.
